Chris Gray Day will be held in Houston, Texas on Saturday, January 14, 2012. The Continental Club, 3701 Main at Winbern in Midtown, has graciously offered to serve as the headquarters venue. Folks in Austin are planning a benefit for the following day, at their Continental Club on South Congress.
You’ll always be able to find key details on the Houston Press website and in the Rocks Off blog, and at key music scene hang-outs like Cactus Music, Sig’s Lagoon, The Continental Club, Shoeshine Charlie’s Big Top Lounge, and Natachee’s.
The money we raise will help Chris and his family defray the staggering costs associated with the heart attack he suffered on October 28, 2011. You can learn more about that sequence of events here.
As plans come together, we will update this site with information on how and where to donate, bands that will play the benefit, news about the Austin benefit, and more.
Chris and his family have requested that any proceeds from the event that exceed his massive medical bills be donated to the Houston Blues Museum, a cause dear to his heart. Bills are just starting to show up in Chris’s mailbox, but once he and his family have a sense for what the total might be, we’ll share a number.
